The original image for this Polaroid lift is made up of a photo of a skeleton I took at the Field Museum and various flowers I took photos.

tv2

I photoshopped the original image from a stack of old TVs at a used electronics market near my home in Seoul. The background is a photo I took on South Lasalle St. in Chicago. Then I printed it with the Polaroid Lab and removed the emulsion.

tv

The original image was made up from a photo I took at the Field Museum in Chicago and the TV was from an exhibition of old TVs at the Dongdaemun DDP.

lagoon

This image is made up of photos I took of a building and the lagoon in Venice and an octopus from the fish market here in Seoul. After photoshopping it I sent it to my phone and printed it on the Polaroid Lab then pulled the emulsion out in a hot water bath.

deer

This is my first attempt at doing a Polaroid emulsion lift. I designed the image in photoshop from a photo I took of a deer skull at the Lords Park Museum in Elgin, IL and a photo I took on a foggy day when I was out rambling with a buddy in the countryside around Wendover, England. After making the image in Photoshop, I sent it to my phone and used the Polaroid Lab to make a physical copy. Once I had a Polaroid photos, I cut the off all the sides and put it in hot water and carefully peeled the transparency away from the back and the chemicals. I then used a small paint brush to get the emulsion off off the transparency. This took quite a while. Once I had the transparency off, I changed the water and used a brush to coax it onto paper I had submerged. After a lot of messing around with it, I carefully pulled it out and used the brush to make sure it was stuck.

wabash & lake

I originally took this photo on N. Wabash Ave. & E Lake St. in Chicago with a Canon 6d. I cut the image in two and sent it to my phone to print using a Polaroid Lab to make 2 instant photos. I took apart the photos in a hot water bath and coaxed the 2 emulsions onto a piece of watercolor paper.

roller coaster

I took this photo at Yongma Land 용마랜드. Its and abandoned amusement park in eastern Seoul. When I first visited there years ago we had to sneak in through a hole in a fence, but now you have to pay to get in. It’s a popular place for photographers and people filming things. Took the original photo with my dslr then used a Polaroid Lab to print it onto two instant photos. I removed the emulsions and brushed them onto some watercolor paper.
